Cindy G. LaCost, Psy.D., Psychoeducational and Psychological Assessment

Dr. Cindy LaCostWelcome to the web site of Cindy LaCost, Psy.D., a licensed psychologist in private practice (PSY24638). I offer a wide array of assessment services to children and adolescents, and young adults, including psychoeducational, psychological, and accommodations testing in the following areas:

  • Executive function (i.e. attention, memory, initiative, impulse control, planning, organization, problem-solving)
  • Processing (i.e. sensory, auditory, visual-perceptual, visual-motor, visual-spatial)
  • Cognition (i.e. intelligence, speed of thinking)
  • Learning (i.e. oral, written and pragmatic expressive and receptive language, math, reading)
  • Social development (i.e. friendships, interpersonal relationships, social development, social perception)
  • Behavioral adjustment (i.e. degree of compliant, age-appropriate, pro-social behavior)
  • Emotional adjustment (i.e. self-regulation, self-concept, mood, anxiety, personality)

Because being a parent of a child with special needs is both a gift and a challenge, I also offer psychotherapy to parents. I believe this is an important and unique service, as Federal and State laws provide for the special needs of children, but not often for the emotional support and psychological health of their caregivers. I utilize individual psychotherapy for the treatment of grief, depression, anxiety, and adjustment difficulties. Finally, I maintain a counseling practice for children, adolescents and young adults with and without special needs to address behavioral issues, impulse control, life transitions, and anxiety and mood disorders.
